the challenge:
design a frameless e-bike using only bio-composites*

*yep, plants.

In 2012 Waarmakers was asked to take part in a consortium consisting of InHolland, NPSP Biocomposites and Van.Eko, with the collective aim of developing a highly innovative, extremely sustainable e-scooter, the first of its kind.

Aside from being fully electric, the Be.e scooter's structure could not rely on the usual steel frame which gives normal scooters their strength and sturdyness; the scooter was to be completely constructed from bio-composites, yes, that means plants.

Waarmakers was responsible for the overall design of the scooter.
